Intro:

Exposure was designed as a project for the ABC news innovation team, which they could then take on board and develop further to be displayed in the foyer of the centre on Harris St, Ultimo. We were given a brief which asked us to “develop a creative data visualisation of the ABC news content that exploits and utilities a multi-touch screen…”, “to highlight the meaning, richness and meaningful insights behind the news content”. The system should provide a new, “engaging, playful and non-linear” was of exploring the news.

With these aims in mind, exposure was born:

I added in genre as it will add an interest point to the image details - just in the 1st 4 articles, there were 3 different genres and I don;t think it will be a problem if current news appears a lot.

i dont know, with what we saw in the data set, i think they will all turn out to be the the same genre (current news)
Georgie Pope Comment by Georgie Pope on May 26, 2009 at 12:01am
Do we want the genre to be part of image details or just the headline and date? I think genre could be good

Ok. see you both at 9 tomorrow.
I only changed the regeneration to go at a slower rate, and yes - that would be great if you had a look to see why it stops regeneration after a while..
I think the problem lies when this condition is never reached.
if (regenerateIncrement == randomRegenerationTime)
drawMe = true;

if this doesn't happen, then the pixels will never grow back. I'll have another look tomorrow. (for the testing, we can just continue to refresh the sketch while people are using it)

Kris, have you played around with the regeneration so that it doesn't stop after a certain time? I will play with this if you haven't, just let me know!

Adrian can come at 2.30 or 3.30 on Tues - we just have to let him know, I guess this will depend on when our other experts can come
